Spring Competition

Spring Competition

Every spring, our athletes practice for and compete in recreational but competitive travel games in TPL (Town Pride Lacrosse League) consisting of 9 robust heritage town-based lacrosse programs including Cohasset, Hingham, Marshfield, Norwell, and Scituate on the South Shore and Concord-Carlisle, Needham, and Winchester between 50-60 minutes away.

Games

Games typically take place on Sundays from April to early June with occasional midweek games including a Friday night. 3rd & 4th grade teams are evenly weighted and competition is more relaxed (there are no official league standings or champions crowned). 5th - 8th grade teams are split by development level with our "Green" teams competing in the "A" division and our "Black" teams competing in the "B" division of the league. Games and competition are more formal with playoff implications. But at the end of the day, we want to ensure that every athlete is receiving a valuable preparatory lacrosse education, is making and maintaining friendships through our sport, learns how to compete with integrity and class, and can't wait to return to the next practice, game, and season.

Practices / IQ

Most teams practice two days a week (Mondays through Thursdays in the evening) and as a single grade. Practices focus on the individual fundamentals of the sport and team concepts for offense, defense, and transition. To be successful in lacrosse (as in any endeavor), two days a week is not enough. Our athletes are encouraged (and expected) to have their stick in their hands 5 days a week with a regular "wall-ball" routine, playing "catch" with mom / dad / siblings / friends, working on cradling, or keeping up with strength and conditioning.

Another key to understanding the team concepts of the sport of lacrosse is to watch it being played at a high level. We are blessed to have one of the strongest and most storied high school programs right here in town (11 Massachusetts state championships) and our athletes are encouraged to watch and support our Varsity team during the spring season. Many of the Varsity athletes are involved with our youth program as Associate Officials, mentors, guest coaches, and special guests.

Player Development Program

In 2022, our youth program joined with our HS program to map out our Development Program - to be used by our coaches and accessed by our families - to outline the expectations of an athletes journey from 1st grade through 8th grade in our youth program.
