3rd-8th Grades
3rd -8th grade is where we really see significant development for each player each year. The Player Development Program details what we expect to be "introduced, developing and proficient" at each level. But a few big milestones to be aware of:
- Duxbury is the second largest program in our league. This is great when we play Hingham (largest program) but a challenge when we play smaller programs because sometimes we have 40 Duxbury players and the opposing team may only have 20. As such, the board and coaches work very hard to schedule games and Dux Vs Dux games to keep the season competitive and fun.
- 3rd and 4th graders form two or more teams per grade that are 'balanced' which means two equal teams.
- In 5th grade, we establish two teams based on ability. These are called a Green Team (A team) and a White Team (B Team). Both teams practice together and have equal playing time.
- By 7th Grade, we hire professional coaches, many of whom played for Duxbury and had successful collegiate careers. The reason we do this is to remove parents from the coaching position and allow the boys to prepare for the rest of their lacrosse career with non-parent coaches.
- We adhere to a strong equal playing time policy, even if this means we lose games at times.
